Before the crisis, the European Central Bank commissioned work on the liabilities side of European debt. Research from the Austrian Central Bank led by Dr. Schuerz focused on wealth inequality, concluding that wealth inequality is much higher than income inequality in Europe. This interview highlights differences between Europe and other regions, but also within societies within Europe. This sheds light on issues of wealth concentration across different geographies.
