“At the same session, Robert Johnson, president, Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), said that a nation has to think globally to protect all humans who are affected by what happens from carbon burning within their country. “What you might call export-led growth, you put on tariffs, low wages, do manufacturing with new technologies,” Johnson said. “It’s not clear that having low-wage labour is going to be the magnet to start a development.” On migration, he said there is “anxiety in Europe now about African and Middle East migration that we have been through in the last 10 years.”
