Renan P. Almeida is currently a Professor of Economics at the UFSJ, Brazil.
He has a Ph.D. in Economics at the Center for Development and Regional Planning (Cedeplar/Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais), Brazil. In the last years, Professor Almeida worked as a consultant for high-tech startups and for institutions such as UN-Habitat, World Bank, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and Minas Gerais’ state government. He served as Tariff Manager at the Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency of Minas Gerais.

He is a founding member and coordinator of the working group on Urban and Regional Economics from Young Scholars Initiative (YSI/Inet). For the YSI, he helped to organize conferences in Budapest, Sao Paulo, Edinburgh, Buenos Aires, Belo Horizonte, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Shenzhen, for instance. His main fields of interested and publications are Urban and Regional Economics, Real Estate dynamics, Urban Planning, Urban Development, Economic Development, Economic Geography, and Spatial Analysis.
