Co-Pierre Georg is a Senior Lecturer at the African Institute of Financial Markets and Risk Management at the University of Cape Town and a Research Economist at Deutsche Bundesbank working mainly on financial networks and the microeconomics of banking. He obtained his PhD in 2011 from the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. His research has been published in the Journal of Banking and Finance and in a recent focus issue of Nature Physics on complex networks in finance. In 2011, Co-Pierre was awarded one of five Lamfalussy fellowships by the European Central Bank for his research on the dynamics of interbank markets and won the runner-up for best student paper at the annual conference of the Society for Computational Economics. He was a consultant at Banque de France, the Bank of Uganda, the Banco Central do Brazil, and the South African Reserve Bank where he worked on the application of network analysis to financial stability.
