SIGNIFICANCE OF KING'S COLLEGE
In the 1930’s John Maynard Keynes, in response to the widespread suffering under the conditions of the Great Depression, challenged free-market theories and spawned an economic revolution that transformed capitalism worldwide. Now, in 2010 when the need for reimagination and reform is greater than ever, we must apply the same Keynesian courage and innovation. Thus, it seems most appropriate to commence this global dialogue where Keynes himself pondered and debated economic theory: King’s College.
KING'S PARADE
King's Parade is one of the most famous sights in Cambridge. The east side of the street is full of small shops, and the low stone wall in front of King’s is a popular summer spot for meeting and chatting. Two lawns lie behind the low wall. Henry VI had to use persuasion and force to get this land for the College. The people who sold him the land were allowed to dine in College on four feast days a year for the rest of their lives.
Please note that each attendee is responsible for booking and paying for his/her own air travel. However to receive complimentary rooms at King's College Campus Housing, please see details after you register on the accommodations tab. This event is invitation-only.
