The Volcker Alliance and the Institute for New Economic Thinking convened a group of influential thinkers for a half-day forum to discuss regulatory and structural changes needed to ensure the stability and resilience of financial markets. 

Panels of experts discussed regulatory reform and reshaping the regulatory system. Opening remarks delivered by: Jacob J. Lew, Secretary of the Treasury, and Paul A. Volcker, former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The Volcker Alliance released a new report, Unfinished Business: Banking in the Shadows, which delves into the financial system’s reliance on short-term debt and central clearinghouses, as well as the structure of regulating financial institutions in the U.S.
